It’s the end of 2012 and I’m overwhelmed by what all has happened this year. {In a good way}.
I can’t believe I have been doing this photography thing for a full year now! I’ve learned so much in the last year and I’m excited for a fresh new year of photography in 2013!
One of my favorite photographers out of TX (Pinkle Toes) does this neat ‘year end review’ slideshow to showcase her year of photography and I just love the idea so I thought I’d do my own version, since you know, I’m pretty obsessed with putting your photos to music.

I spent the entire year last year building my portfolio and charging reduced rates. I got lots of practice photographing all of the beautiful families, toddlers, babies, and newborns that chose me to do their photos last year. Thanks to all of you, I feel totally confident to end that portfolio building phase and start charging normal rates for my work and time. I realized last year that doing photography is certainly not as easy as just meeting you at a session location, snapping photos, then coming home and burning your disk. What you don’t get to see is the hours I spend in front of my computer editing and perfecting your images before they’re ready for you to see and print. Photography is also a field where you’re always learning something and upgrading to the next best thing in equipment. Remember that better equipment for me results in better photos for you! Charging just $50 per session will certainly not get me the equipment I want and take me to the caliber of photos I want to be at. In addition to equipment there are workshops to attend, and online learning I want to be a part of. All of these things cost money. There’s so much to learn and I just want to continue to improve in 2013. With all of that said, that is why I’ve increased my rates for 2013. It’s not for me to make more money, it’s to continue to improve for YOU!
SO to sum it up, increased rates+better equipment+workshops=better photos for YOU!
You can email me to view my 2013 rate packet. I’ve tried to keep it very affordable but remember that photography is an investment that NEVER depreciates! Photos last forever!
Another change is that my mini sessions will now be at various times throughout the year like spring time, mothers day, maybe something in the summer, fall & holiday. These sessions will be announced one month in advance and will be on a first come first serve basis once announced.
I’ll be trying out galleries for 2013 so you can purchase prints from me. This way your coloring will always be accurate and you won’t have to bother with places like walmart for your prints.
I still have the option for you to purchase digital files in high resolution if you want to go that route, but every session will come with a disk of watermarked low resolution images for online sharing only.
Maternity session can be added on for just $100!
My sessions are all always on location or at your home. Charleston is so beautiful and the location options are endless. Don’t be afraid of the beach for your fall or winter photos! I love the beach this time of the year. It’s so much more peaceful when it’s not all bikinis and sunbathing, right?
I also have a new ‘don’t blink’ package for your babies first year.
I think that about sums it up! I’m excited to see what’s in store for 2013 and can’t wait to work with old clients again and meet many new ones too!
