Planning your Downtown Charleston Baby Moon!

From dining to sightseeing to breathing in some salty air, here are some suggestions for things to do on your Charleston Baby Moon!

Downtown Walk: Park your car at the battery and then leisurely walk the sea wall to waterfront park for a rest. (turn right where rainbow row begins to get to the park. Intersection of Tradd and Adgers)

There are plenty of benches all over the park and in the shade where you can catch a cool sea breeze.

Grab a bite to eat along East Bay Street.

There are so many options from just coffee and light fare(Carmellas or Bakehouse), to a full on meal at Magnolias, Pearlz, or Poogan’s Smokehouse.

A stroll through the city market is a must if you’re visiting Charleston. There’s always something unique to find there. End on the indoor side to cool off or warm up depending on the season you’re in town.

You can take Meeting or church street as a straight shot back to your car at the battery or if you’re done with walking, catch a pedi-cab and enjoy the ride back.

If you’re down for walking, I think you can’t leave out a trip to see Magnolia Plantation.

It’s pretty anytime of the year, but there are extra special times to visit like Feb. when you can catch the beautiful pops of light pink, March when the azaleas bloom, and then June for the crepe myrtles.

You’ll have to drive away from the downtown area to get here, but it’s worth it.

On your way back into downtown, stop in at Taco Bartina(formerly Taco Spot), or Mex 1. I prefer Taco Bartina, but Mex 1 seems to be universally loved.

A visit to an area beach is also worth the drive away from downtown. You can’t go wrong with Folly Beach heading through James Island or Sullivans Island(through Mount Pleasant).

Both have plenty of dining options like Poe’s Tavern at Sullivans or Rita’s at Folly.

A neat, yet off the beaten path dining option close to Folly is Bowen’s Island. It’s counter service but they have plenty of tables. They serve up the best fresh seafood and oysters.

For a baby moon, I feel your only splurge thing should be a comfy place to stay, wonderful food and a photo shoot(about 33 weeks) to document that bump in a charming vibrant town ;)!

Use your time to just take in the southern charm, the color, the sunsets, the breeze. You can’t go wrong doing it that way and it will be time well spent without breaking your bank.

Some of my personal favorite dining options in Downtown Charleston:

Halls Chophouse(King Street)-This is a place we only go when we are celebrating but it’s one of those places you’ll fall in love with from the moment you walk inside.

Coast(John Street/only open for dinner): I always suggest this restaurant to clients b/c it’s the type of place that can be dressed up or casual and there’s something on the menu for everyone.

We started going here when we first moved to Charleston in 2007 and I’ve loved it ever since.

Blind Tiger(broad street): A fun bar that happens to have great food too!

Miller’s All Day-Wonderful Breakfast on King Street.

Poogan’s Porch(queen st.)-Great little lunch spot with some history.

I feel like everybody loves rooftop Dining so here are a few around downtown:
