Lifestyle…it’s where it all began for me. I think my very first paid session was a newborn session of this exact style. I’ve certainly learned a lot since that first session, but when I look back at my old photos, the same type of styling has always been there. I’ve always sought simple when it came to newborns. I’ve never been a fan of props and unnatural poses, not b/c it can’t be beautifully done, but it just doesn’t appeal to my personal taste. The beanbag came about just over a year ago only b/c there was a need for it and I wanted to offer something to my clients where they didn’t have to be in the photos if they didn’t want to be. Of course if I’m going to put a newborn on a beanbag, my approach would be nothing but simple and natural. I try very hard with the fresh and simple sessions to be unique in my posing and use of wraps. Sometimes, I have to just do what the baby will allow. If they sleep perfectly, I can fly away with what I want to do, trying different but still simple and natural things to get there. I’m still working to really find my own little niche as this style of newborn photography becomes more and more popular. I’m getting there and hope that when you see one of my photos, you instantly know, that’s a ‘Tickled Blue Baby’.
As much as I love my fresh and simple sessions, especially now that I have a controlled environment with my adorable little studio, I still get butterflies when someone wants to book a lifestyle session. I think they’ll always be my favorite.
I just recently switched up my pricing for these sessions to all inclusive. It’s total sticker shock now, I know, but it’s actually the exact same amount that it was before, only now it’s listed all together. I eliminated my smallest package bc no one was purchasing it anyway. You just end up wanting them all and that’s a good thing. Lifestyle sessions tell a story and you really need every photo from a session like this. You may not even realize how much you’ll eventually love a single photo. When that baby turns one and on and on, these are the photos you’ll look back on of when your family grew by one(or maybe 2). These quiet moments of the precious newborn stage will be something to miss, but if you have photos to remember it, you can go right back to that time in your life!
With all of that said(and thank you for reading), here’s a glimpse into my most recent lifestyle newborn session. This now family of 4 welcomed me into their home to capture some sweet moments with their newest little guy.
