I was contacted a few months ago about doing this very special session for this family. What I didn’t know was how much I would be touched by it and how it was going to make me feel. I know sessions like this are why I found photography.   We were scheduled to do the session that morning but it was the darkest rainiest morning and moving it to later when the rain moved out worked for everybody.  As I pulled onto the Ravanel heading to East Cooper, I saw the sun peeking through and got so excited. It was an indoor session of course, but hospital rooms are small and sometimes dark, so a bright sunny day is ideal!  I don’t  get as nervous before sessions like I use to, but before this one I was completely nervous. Mostly I guess b/c I wanted them to be so perfect for this family and seeing the sun peek through was like an answer to my prayer.

The sweet baby girl was awake for the entire session but was the most content baby. She didn’t want to miss a thing. The slideshow has video clips I took while there and while I’ve never done video clips at a fresh 48 before,  it couldn’t have worked out any better. I didn’t expect to capture their son meeting her for the first time.  He actually came strutting in with his big brother shirt right as I was finishing up with photos of them.  To capture him holding her for the first time was magical! I also get teary watching the clip of  her hug him and saying ‘gosh I missed you’. It’s so real and none of that could be staged or posed.

This session was nothing short of amazing. I’ll continue to pray for this family as they face uncertainty, but feel truly blessed to have been able to do this and remember this sweet, delicate & happy time of welcoming a newborn baby.
